Self Help Explained.

Self Help can refer to any situation whereby a person or a group makes an effort to better themselves in terms of their financial status, their personality, their skills or emotionally. These are efforts are done through the help of books, audio tapes, video tapes, and other resources that promises quick and easy way to solving the problems that many have.

Solutions provided include money, love, speed reading, studies, health, emotions, leadership skills, motivation, happiness and many more.

Many resources out there promises a lot, and the theories are in fact very good. What the 'gurus' don't tell you is that they've spent years upon years perfecting what they teach.  There are no such thing as a quick and easy way to learning anything.

I'm not saying that many of the resources out there are not working. I'm just saying don't expect to gain without any pain.

If you just read the self help materials, and just leave it at that or just start and stop within a week, there will definitely be any improvements. You've just wasted your money.

The first step to Self Help is a will to continue through and never stopping to learn the skill once you've started. Never stop and think that you have learned something and completely forget about the newly learned skill. You WILL forget and would have to relearn again. The relearning process is not as fun as the first time through, and thus, the skill will never be learned in the end.

For example, I picked up an audio tape on how to improve my memory instantly!  It listened to it. It did what it promised. My memory improved tremendously using the techniques they thought (See memory under Resources) After learning the skills, I stopped it at that. Learning the basics were fun, but having to remember a list of words for the numbers, it was tedious and boring. I did not get to learn the words, until one day, I saw a friend of mine who remembered an 8 number thus impressing a girl.  I knew the theory, but could not produce the same result! That gave me a push to learn up all the words needed to remember long numbers.

Persistence is really the difference between winners and losers.
